Handling Freight Shipments: A Step-by-Step Guide

Delivery Inspection:

  • Upon arrival, inspect the shipment with the delivery driver and review the Driver’s Receipt (DR), which you will be asked to sign.
  • Verify that all freight listed on your DR matches the delivered items. If any items are missing, accept the shipment but note the discrepancies on the DR. Contact us promptly with the details of any missing pieces.
  • Identify missing packages by comparing received items against the packing slip. Inform us of any discrepancies, providing details such as size and markings of missing boxes, to aid in locating them. We will liaise with the shipper and conduct a dock search to possibly recover the missing items and avoid a claim.

Examining Freight for Damage:

  • External Damage: If you notice damage to the package’s exterior, inspect the contents immediately, either on your own or with the driver present. If the driver does not allow the inspection, reject the shipment and inform us. We will arrange for a replacement.
  • Internal Damage: Upon discovering damage inside, reject the shipment and contact us. We will organize a replacement once we receive the returned shipment.
  • No Visible Damage: Still, inspect the contents as a precaution.
